Some historical tidbits:

Armstrong actually said "That's one small step for A man, one giant leap for mankind". But the VOX (voice operated microphone) wasn't fast enough for some reason to pick up the "a", Armstrong said that repeatedly over the years.

Despite the movie "The Right Stuff", Gus Grissom was not a bumbling fool, in fact both Chris Kraft & Deke Slayton said that had Grissom lived, he would've been the 1st man on the Moon.

My father was Maintenance Supervisor at the MSFN tracking station in Madrid, Spain during the mission.
